The best example I know is like how one lady did it with her patio cement, using a "rock form" or "brick form" paint mold to do it. Here is one tutorial for making faux brick wall on drywall. Paint the background with a grout colored paint. Then use a rectangular sponge, cut the edges slightly to resemble the shape of a brick and stamp with a color that matches the brick color you are going for. Then you will probably want to add shades of reds and greys on the bricks applied by tapping a brush onto the brick color to add dimension to your brick.
Hi Marlene, I've seen them use plaster / drywall mud with a brick stencil and then paint it the color of brick. Pretty cool and can look very realistic
