Hi Barbara, I know you can purchase automatic waterers which are glass bottles that you fill with water and then turn over and push down into the soil. You can also make your own: https://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-a-Glass-Coke-Bottle-in-to-a-Plant-Waterer/
Hello ,
Sometimes I ask family or a neighbor to water exterior pots.
I also use SOIL MOIST in all my potted planters it works wonderfully in out hot dry summers to make watering demands a bit less frequent.
Here’s the link with Q&A and reviews perhaps that can add some more information to assist you to make your choice of effective adjustments to your plant watering schedule. Its available at walmart and big box hardware stores. Happy gardening!

Hi Barbara.
I have one of those glass watering globes, but you can do the same thing with any glass or plastic bottle that has a "neck". Like a soda or ketchup (not wide mouth) bottle. Wishing you the best.
I've filled an empty wine bottle and turned it upside down into the dirt. It waters as the dirt dries.
