You can use contact cement that’s used on plastic laminate or furniture tacks.

I always use a multi purpose glue. I have tried a contact glue on faux leather and it ate into the fabric destroying it.
Here you go:
Any white or yellow wood glue will bond most raw leather to wood. I would do a test with scrap leather to see how well this works. This is for a lower stress project like scrapbooking covers. Some leathers have colors or treatments on them which will affect their binding qualities.
