How do I darken the stain on my new pine doors?
Just got new pine doors and they turned out more reddish then I like. Is there some kind of furniture polish I can use to make them more brownish?

You might try Old English Scratch Cover in the dark.
Thanks, I will try that.
Old English used to make a dark tinted polish ...I used it many years ago , they might still make it ... Good luck !
You can also try tung or hemp oil! Both will help to brighten and slightly darken the wood finish.
As long as they don't have a top coat like poly on them, you can use Watco Danish Oil that comes in quite a few wood finishes. I also use Howard Restore-a-Finish to maintain a client's old farm table and hide all the blemishes.
Hi Janet,
Use an antique pine varnish or a brown varnish over the doors, or even a brown antiquing wax might do it. Or rub the doors down and antique wax them...............
Bes wishes...........

Hello Janet,
I had the same problem when my new furniture arrived. I was told to wait for the newness of the timber stain and finish to mellow, which it has done in time. If you can't wait, then I would suggest you use Liquid Shoe Polish to go over the door as you would if you were painting them. Long even smooth strokes. (I have done this with smaller items myself with great success. ) Best wishes.
