Hi Susan. A collage is all about cutting up pictures. Use some pics of the birthday girl along with pics from books and magazines. Then placement is crucial. Like put her body riding on an elephant. Funny pics like that will get a laugh from the guests.
Cindy has the perfect idea! I always make mine on foam core poster board from any dollar store. You can get an inexpensive frame for it, Wal-Mart sells them, to make it look nicer.

Thanks for your thoughts. The collage is for my brother turning 50 and I’d like to make it somewhat abstract and texturized yet still with pictures so it looks like a gorgeous piece of modern art. I could use a piece of wood or plaster of Paris but I don’t really have a vision for the way to put the pics together. Any thoughts?
