CLR mixed in a plastic bag, remove the head and put it in the bag and tie it up for at least 24 hours. Should eliminate water deposits...may need longer if lots of build up.
I do the same as above - but I leave the shower head in place and use a rubber band to hold the bag of CLR (or vinegar) in place around the shower head. One less step. :)
Use a sturdy food storage bag, fill with vinegar and then place the bag onto the shower head. You can use rubber bands to hold the vinegar filled bag to the shower head spout. Let set several hours and the vinegar will dissolve most mineral and calcium deposits.
I also do the same and use vinegar. Don't forget the rubber band to hold this in place while it soaks!

How to Clean Your Shower Head – DIY With 1 Step and 1 Ingredient.
A large bag filled with white cleaning vinegar if it needs to soak.
You can start by manually wiggling each rubber nozzle and spray with vinegar. If that isn't enough, go to the soaking method.
I use either plain white vinegar in a plastic bag and rubber band it around the shower head, making sure the jets of the shower head are under the liquid. If your shower head is the system where it is at the end of flexible tubing, you can just place it in a container of vinegar. CLR does the same job.
