-Cut tag sized rectangles out of old greeting cards, or cereal box weight cardboard. To cover any words on the cardboard, glue over, then on to gift wrap. When the glue is dried, cut off the sides of the gift wrap. (This is easier than cutting out a piece of gift wrap first, then trying to glue it on to the cardboard.)

-Use scissors with a scalloped or wavy edges, or pinking sheer scissors.

-Punch a hole in one corner with a standard one-hole puncher, then loop a ribbon through to tie on to the gift.

Cut out the message inside the card and personalize it, then punch a hole and tie it on with ribbon or yarn...or tape it onto the package.

    Example:

    Dear Mary,

May the blessings of the holidays always stay with you.

    Best to you and yours,

    Your name

Also, the scene from cards can be cut out and used the same way.

Cut a rectangle from any leftover wrapping paper. Fold in half so the print shows on the outside. Write To: and From: on the inside. Tape it on the gift so that it can be opened up to read like a card.

    Hi Davis.K,

Everyone has great ideas. I remember the days when we all made our own tags. The fastest and easiest way was to use pieces of wrapping paper folded in half like a small card - like Gk wrote about. We would then glue on mini branches of evergreen shrubs or pine cones to decorate the "card." The To and From could go either on the inside or as Gk mentioned. Wishing you the best. Have fun! Merry Christmas.

Hi Davis, you can take scraps of your wrapping paper, but them in rectangles fold in half, tape one side down and write to and from on the other side. Fold over. Easy and cheap

Davis....Just cut a figure the size you want out of a brown paper bag...it can be taped on or make a hole and put some yarn through it and tie on your ribbon.

The backing finish on newer wrapping paper is often more slippery and thinner, than paper from years ago, which doesn't work well when you try to write on it.
