The only issue I have found with the over the counter fabric spray paint is that you are limited by the colors and they tend to look immature for young use marketing to kids who want to paint on their T shirts. You may find a great color which would be perfect but chances are for home decor, you might not be lucky.
So here is what I would do:
I would buy ANY COLOR latex paint and add a fabric medium into it. Try liquitex fabric medium or ceramcoat textile medium. Just google these 2 products and follow the directions on the bottle to mix with paint. I haven't done this yet so I don't have one of my own post for you but this is what I would do. I love being able to use my own color especially when it comes to home decor. You can use a sprayer of your own or use a dry brush technique where you work it into the layers. It will take a few coats since you are working it into the fabric. You will have to let me know how this goes! Hope this works for you! Good luck!

Paint covering the type of fabric that is commonly used for Roman style shades will alter the feel and flexibility of the fabric.
I would not recommend doing this, as I would think the paint would crack and flake off on the portions of the fabric that bend.

I would just dye them with Rit Dye.
