This is an interesting photograph. Seeing it in person would give a better assessment and diagnosis of possible technique.
It looks like a textured paper with branches applied. The tree trunks look like a textured paper with some dimension- almost like gauze/ plaster cast wrap or crêpe paper. Actually resembles paper tree trunk wrap. Perhaps its modgepodge layered to add the stiffness and structure.
I wonder if the branches with leaves could be artificial floral stems almost look as they are dipped in plaster....that are painted -likely spray painted? Maybe modgepodged instead of plaster?
This is only a guess viewing. I have seen plaster- ceramic slip pastry bag applied in decorative way but not sure of the formulation to work on a vertical wall...
Curious too if any others can figure this out and reveal the process.
Potentially you could try out a technique like this playing around with such materials mentioned above in a very small format —to see if it could be successful. Good luck in your investigation!
Lots of ideas here:

That's gorgeous Ada. I found this site that has work in progress pics of similar wall decor techniques. There are no instructions, but it might give you some ideas - http://hungeldesign.ru/cz13YWxsbWljaGFlbGFtYWdhemluZS50cmVuZGluZ3Bvc3RzLnJ1JnA9Mzc0MjMyNC0yNy10cmVuZHktaWRlYXMtd2FsbC10ZXh0dXJlLWlkZWFzLWRyeXdhbGwtcGxhc3Rlci1pbm4xNC5odG1sJmk9MTQ=
Here is an idea along those lines though not quite the same https://familyfocusblog.com/diy-tree-bookshelf-tutorial/
Just a sidebar here, loving something and living with it can be two different things. Remember, it will not look like this unless you light it from the floor. Pets and kids need to be considered for any electrical stuff you are running along the floor. If you have allergies, you're going to have to vacuum this often because this kind of texture is a dust magnet. And, if you're a person who likes to change up your decor... I'd look for something that can easily be changed, like paint rather than texture.
I really like this wall too, but for the reasons I stated, it would not be practical in my home.
Completely understandable but I don't have children home any longer. It would have a lot of natural light rather then electrical wiring.
Thank you for your thoughts. 🙂
I would use a projector and stencil the shape of tree limbs and paint them a solid brown color... then, maybe you could cut felt out for the leaves in various green colors.
That is done with plaster wall stencils. You can use plaster, drywall compound, or texture paste.

Changing back might be a problem. There are thousands of wallpaper designs - some with raised surfaces. If you tire of it, most are dry stripible.
