Can you give me ideas for large stenciled designs for a wall?
I have a huge backyard, surrounded with walls of boring stucco-covered cinderblock. I need color, something to break up the blah, and exterior wall art is pricey... so I had the thought to actually stencil some ‘art’ on those drab walls, instead. I know I’ll need to grind down the areas where I’ll be painting, but can anyone recommend large stencil ideas? Thx!

Hello Danielle! If I were you I would reconsider grinding down ant stucco areas to place stencils. At some point when you decide the stencils no longer appeal to you it would be difficult to reapply any stucco and mimic what is already there. You could actually make some large panels with plywood and 2x2 trim, stencil that and then hang it with just a few screws. Filling in screw holes wouldn't be so much of a job and be easier to hide. Or you could paint blocks of color in any pattern you might like and add color that way. Easy to paint over later. Here's some ideas for you.

When we purchased LuckyHomeToday - the previous owners had freehanded art designs. It grew on us over the past few years. However I'm loving the post above by GK to do block design!
You can make stencils out of cardboard.
Another option might be to purchase a pretty outdoor rug and hang it on the wall.
When it comes to being creative, it’s not hard to overthink things too much, making it easy to get ‘lost’ within the cobwebs of my ideas! 🤣
Thank you for the inspiration, Gk!
I found an idea to make it look like stone. I hope this helps you out.
