I like a crisp white for trim. It will really contrast beautifully with the blue.
And a second, lighter shad of blue for accessories may be nice.
Navy blue is a dark color. White would help. How about a lighter shade of blue on one wall and ceiling in each room as an accent wall.
Valspar makes a gold metallic wall paint. You could do some stripes with this on an accent wall. It might look really interesting on the dark blue.
My daughter's room is a midnight blue. I thought it was a bad idea but it turned out beautiful. I highly recommend priming with a tinted primer. Have it mixed at the same time you get the paint so it will lessen the work. I used Behr Premium and it was a 2 coat job. She was very into the celestial theme so it is trimmed with gold. It's now storage (finished attic space) but every time I go up there I admire how pretty it is. Maybe one day it'll be a craft room.
Kevin: maybe this will help

Hi Kevin, Navy is gorgeous, but also dark, what if you were to do feature wall in the navy color and tie it together decor and trim. I have attached 3 pics for you to check out
There are countless shades and tones of 'navy blue'.
I agree with others above who have cautioned to not go too dark. It will be easier to maintain control over the decor by using darker paint choices as secondary, or accent colors, or adding with furnishings.
Thank you for your help, I like "Elegant Navy" shown here.
These are Benjamin Moore paint colors?
Kevin
Hi Kevin - We used Benjamin Moore's Hales Navy along with a bright white and it turned out gorgeous. This navy is a lighter navy and it's beautiful. Good luck with your project! Holly
In response to your question regarding ALL gold metallic walls. Maybe one wall as an accent wall but not all the walls. I think it would be better to use the metallic gold as an accent. Here's some examples!
agree, and I suspect the metalic paint is VERY expensive?
Thank you,
Kevin
I would definitely NOT paint all your walls navy blue, unless you want your house to be very dark. These days, I'm painting a lot of walls a nice bright white, and adding an accent wall (white would be a great place to bring in navy blue. I did recently paint my powder room navy blue, with a mural accent wall. But it's a small space and it's not where we spend a lot of time. https://jessicawellinginteriors.com/how-to-paint-a-mural-an-inexpensive-wallpaper-alternative/
Hi there,
Maybe it would be better to Wallpaper instead rather than paint! Best wishes.
love wallpaper BUT thats expensive.
