What are you trying to accomplish?
Is it dirty, stained, flattened/crushed in wear patterns?

If it’s crushed in traffic paths, then the only solution is to rob fresh carpet out of closets and patch it. That’s not an easy job and it’ll have to be re-stretched.
Wall to wall carpet is 100% synthetic pile and can’t be painted or it will become a hard crunchy mess.
If you had wool carpet, you’d have paid a fortune for it and you could have it dyed.
