Any double oven owners out there how they handle?
Over the past couple years my single oven is going down hill fast. When the oven is on it just sputters GAS and you don't know if its going to stay on or not! A couple of years ago my Thanksgiving Turkey was nice and brown but when you cut into it, it WAS FULL OF BLOODIE MEAT, the repair people came and said they fixed it but it continues to go downhill. The temperature is always 20 degrees plus higher then I want it, THIS HAS 'NEVER' EVER happened to me on any of the 5 ovens I have ever owned, (MAYTAG). I have always wanted a double oven and now that I'm getting older and its hard to bend down esp. to put stuff in the bottom storage drawer that I haven't seen what's it in years WOULD SERIOUSLY LIKE A DOUBLE OVEN THAT I KNOW I WOULD USE THE TOP OVEN MORE THAN THE BOTTOM EXCEPT WHEN I DO NEED THE EXTRA OVEN, IE HOLIDAYS. I would like a gas oven, for me I can control the cooking temp. better esp. now that I am doing a lot more cooking/baking with this virus happening. Anybody out there have a double oven that is extremely happy with. So happy to talk to all of you, stay safe, 6', wash your hands..

If the only reason you want a double oven is for the height convenience why not consider a wall mount oven. That would allow you to put it at the exact height you want so no bending down.
My dad had one and he used to love it. His was about 4 feet above the kitchen floor. That proved to be a perfect height for everyone that used it.

My last few ovens were electric wall ovens - either single or double. However, that requires 220 VAC connection - normally a 50 amp circuit. The electric worked fine for backing. However, we rarely used both ovens at the same time. We currently have a gas stove (cook top & single oven).
If you think about it, what sense does an oven make that makes you bend over stick your face in to check something that is baking with a full rush of heat? Ugh. As we get older, it makes absolutely no sense, just like under the counter refrigerators. Please consider a wall oven.
Especially if a double oven costs substantially more, it makes NO sense to only use it on aa holiday like Thanksgiving! But an (electric) single and have others bring side dishes!
before you replace it try cleaning the gas jests - they may be clogged! Strip the paper off a baggie tie so you have a SKINNY wire - you can get the plastic off a baggie tie but if you can find a paper coated one its way easier. With oven OFF- lift out the flat bottom of the oven & you may see a gas outlet with lots of little holes - poke the wire into eat one & wiggle, withdarw it, wipe off any gunk & repeat all the way around. (you can do same to holes in stove burners) wipe out any spilled food mess while you are down under the bottom plate, then put it back in - door won't close if bottom plate isn't seated properley so be sure you put in same as it was before took out! Now try pre-heating - it may not sputter anymore!

I always tap the gas jets regularly to dislodge burnt carbon to keep them clean.... you can see the carbon sparking and burning off.
Love double wall ovens. Not in my current home, as it is open concept, but have had in others. Way back I even lived in an apartment that had a double wall oven in gas. Was in heaven! I cook and bake almost every day and being tall, they were always the right height and not having bend so far over is much better for my back. If it is a huge expense, think twice unless you plan on staying in that house for a significant amount of time.

Always buy Double Oven, for all sorts of reasons, Holidays, breakdown. It is also good to buy a dual fuel oven for the above reasons too. Best wishes. Keep safe!
Consumer Reports annual issue has very thorough testing and review of both single & double walls ovens, as well as floor models.
I would tell you what I read last week, but it was my friend’s copy of the magazine and I was looking at dual fuel stoves. Sorry.
You might consider a big countertop convection toaster oven that has multi functions.
It beats heating up the entire oven and is countertop height. It doesn’t require running a new 30 amp circuit/outlet, like a new wall oven would.
Mine holds a 12” pizza or a big casserole dish.
try buying a gently used oven to replace the one you are having problems with and then you would have two ovens again -
My parents have a double oven but it is electric. GE brand. Mine farmhouse oven is electric as well with a gas range. I don't have any issues with the temperature but have found that my main home (freestanding gas oven) runs "cooler". When I checked it with a temperature gauge, it is off and I have to increase the cooking temperature on it.
