How to extend your fence higher for privacy?
We would like to extend our fence about 10"-12" for a little more privacy. We'd like it to look nice and not be offensive to our neighbors. Looking for some fun, creative ways. Our fence is wooden with all 3 sides a little different layout (for some reason).
Thank you in advance! Amy

You could add lattice across the top and then have a climbing vine like clematis or ivy if needed, or screen.
You could try something like this. It would mean buying posts and building separate sections to be place in front of your existing fence. Just a thought! I would check with your local zoning ordinances to make sure there are no height limitations on fencing your property.
hello Amy
Here are some ideas

another idea is vinyl lattice you can find it with smaller openings or larger ones and it comes in a couple of colors- it would go up easily and hide your neighbors without being an eyesore
Home Depot and Lowes has them in stock and you can look online for your local store to see prices, sizes, etc. homedepot.com or lowes.com just put in your zip code for info on your closest store

Place one 2- to 3-foot-tall wood post vertically on top of one of your fence's existing wood posts, extending the post's height by 2 to 3 feet. Screw one metal tie plate to the outside of the fence's existing post and the new post you set on top of it. The metal tie plate will hold the posts together.

Before you do anything, check with your municipality to see what the code is for fences in your area, where I live it is 6' and people have requested a permit to go higher in certain situations. You don't want to create a beautiful backdrop, only to have to take it down.
