How to do an outlet when ship lapping a wall?

Ok, so here is my dilemma ... this is my 3rd room I have ship lapped. I know how to cut around the outlets and so forth ... HOWEVER (!) in this room, the kitchen, I have run into a first time problem ... I have an outlet that will fall between 2 ship lap boards ... so my gap between the 2 boards will actually run horizontally in about the center of the outlet. Any suggestions on how to remedy this or should I just live with it?! I can't reposition the boards or change the widths of the boards either!

Unfortunately, if you can't adjust anything at this point, you will probably just have to live with it :(
Could you shorten the length of one is the boards so that the seam lands next to the outlet instead of the middle?
I'm having a hard time picturing what the problem is. Can you post a picture?
It's difficult to understand your problem. Did you run the ship lap horizontally? In any event, if nothing can be changed, I think you will have to live with what you have.
If I understand the issue, you should cut a portion of the outlet out of each board and the two will butt against each other around the hole. The biggest problem I can think of is this: if you outlet hole is close to the size of the boards you may have only a sliver of board. If that is the case, consider going with oversized outlet covers. I had to do that in my bedroom - when I removed the wallpaper I discovered that every hole was cut too large but the wallpaper had been left to cover the gap. Oversized outlet covers weren't that expensive and fixed the issue. I did have to order them because I couldn't find anyone that had them in stock.

If I understand it correctly, the outlet will be between one above and one below. The area between the shiplap will leave a half section in each piece with the gap between. The position of the outlet and the space opening once a face plate is installed, it should not be a problem. I think the possible side view should be fine.
Yes attach the two boards together and then cut them as one.
If I'm reading this correctly, there will be a seam that runs horizontally through the middle of the outlet? That seems ideal to me visually if it's not going to center on a plank. I suspect you won't even notice it once it's done.
