Un-Curl an area rug?
I recently purchaed an indoor/outdoor area rug. When it was delivered it was all rolled up. I unrolled it and add heavy items to make the carpet lay flat. It didn’t work. Any suggestions/ideas how to correct this. I also thought about misting it with hopes it may dry flat. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Definitely mist it, then add weights to it. I recently purchased one that was folded in half. I misted, turned upside side, and placed heavy items on the back side. It took a day to get it to lay down properly without a crease.
I agree, get it wet and lay it out flat with heavy objects on top. Even better would be able to do it outside in the sun for a day or two.
Take a wet towel and moisten the areas where the carpet is curling. Then, take an iron and set it to a medium heat. With the towel still covering the carpeted area, hold down the iron and press. This should flatten the areas out. Do not set the iron at too high a heat as this could leave burn marks on the new carpet. To be extra cautious, you might consider starting at a low heat and working your way up as needed.
Here's a couple of suggestions:
Corners
Sometimes the corners won't lie flat even after the rest of the rug relaxes in place. To flatten corners that are curling upward, fold them slightly under so the curve points down, leaving them that way for a day or two. If they already curl under, flip the rug over and curl the corners under, or leave the rug upright and set a heavy object near each corner for a day or so to relax the carpet fibers.
Ironing
If the rug still doesn't want to lie flat after a few days, help it out by ironing the curled areas on a low setting. Plain brown craft paper over the rug protects it from the iron. Iron minimally to avoid damaging the rug.

If it is physically possible to do so, I would also suggest rolling it up tightly in the reverse direction first, before trying to flatten it with mist and weights.
Thanks
Hello. I think misting it is a good idea. Possibly rolling it up the other way - direction it might help get the memory out of the carpet itself.
