What options for smart thermostat with 12V, C and D wires??
Hi all,
This is what we currently have:
Thermostat has the following wires: 12V, GND, C and D (see pics)
Our AC - Rheem RA1648AJLNA:
Find product information, documents, videos, and installation assistance for the Rheem RA1648AJ1NA
Our current thermostat:

Seems like the most common start thermostats (ex. ecobee, nest) will not work with a 12V or D wire.
Are there any "smart" or at least WiFi capable thermostats out there that would work with our wire setup?
Thanks.

What you have a Communicating Thermostat/tstat which has proprietary programming with Rheem systems. The tstat works off 24V but output is 12V to the contoller module. To connect a smart thermostat the controller module would need to be removed and the system rewired directly to the HVAC equipment. It would require new wiring.

Your best bet is to contact a smart thermostat manufacturer and ask them. You can also buy a Venstar Add a Wire though ecobee's also have their own doohickey. You can see my Add a Wire story here: https://www.flippingtheflip.com/2018/06/lessons-of-thermostat-part-three.html
Hello I might suggest calling the manufacturer directly for their expert recommendation.
I'm glad that my house came with the programmable thermostat. There seems to be great info supplied here.
