Project Guide: Stenciling Fabric
Use fabric paint and use the stencil the same as you would any where else. Pin the fabric to a board or tape it so the fabric is taut. Then paint. Follow directions on bottle of paint.
Hi! When stenciling or just painting fabric it is a good idea to put cardboard under the layer you are applying the paint to. That way it won't end up soaking through to the fabric or surface underneath. Have fun and follow the directions of the paint you use!
Hello Julie,
Tape down your apron on using masking tape onto a surface that you intend to paint on. Then tape in place your stencil. When finished either let dry in situ or remove and hang out to dry. Repeat!
Make sure the fabric is ironed and laid out smoothly without stretching. Use fabric paint with the stencil and dab it on.

Hello. I recently started started screen printing with vinyl stencils. That is something you might want to consider if youβre going to make multitudes of the same project. Speedball silk screen frames squeegee and speedball paints are a wonderful option to consider. The colors are deep and wash nicely after heat setting.
If you donβt want to go for screen printing way the fabric inks can be used and dabbed on with your stencils.

I do this all the time and I highly recommend using a roller if possible. A very tight roller will give you a sharp and smooth result.
Sounds like a great idea!
Keep in mind that fabric with a higher cotton content will 'take' the stencil paint more readily than fabric with a higher synthetic (polyester) content.
