We have a large holly tree in our back yard very near our deck. Every spring this tree attracts wood boring bees.
Any suggestions how to ward off the hole drilling pests? Can't remove the tree till the bee cycle is done......a bit perilous for the tree removal crew.

I would add top soil or mulch over it. Depending on the surrounding area, you could also add plants or shrubbery.
If you should ever want to cut the end of it, after consulting with an arborist, you can cut it with a sawz-all with a "demolition" blade in it.
Cover it with some mulch. Soil is not recommended since it can cause damage.
We have the same problem in our front yard. Decided to make a huge circle with block around the tree. Will then fill in with some mulch. Not only will take take care of a tripping hazard but it will also dress up the area.
Hello. Mulch or rocks might be options.
Mulch tips to avoid
Do not mulch too thinly or make tree volcanoes.
Do not have mulch touch the tree trunk. Ideally, the mulch should not physically contact the trunk; it is most beneficial if it extends out from the trunk to the ends of the branches.
