Seems like there are SO many ideas I have seen already on Pinterest a year ago and now they recycle ....was hoping for something more fresh

I can see your point Ann. For general inspiration, etc.. Pinterest is like no other. But they can no where compete with Hometalk when you want to converse and get feedback about a problem or challenge that you do not have an answer to! Or.. if you simply want a diverse opinion!

Unlike pinterest you can get very specific answers from home improvement experts...in addition to all of the cool ideas. like this example http://www.hometalk.com/diy/floors-ceilings/q-can-i-lay-porcelain-tile-over-sheet-vinyl-143560
Can I lay porcelain tile over sheet vinyl?

I love Pinterest and it has great ideas, but Hometalk goes way beyond Pinterest. I have gotten so much help from everyone on Hometalk.

Easier to use than pinterest . I cant get it to load on my ipod. Like this much better. So this is all new stuff to me. Add some of your own projects for some fresh new idea's for us.

I use Pinterest for more ideas and inspiration than just home improvement. Pinterest is where I "house" all the ideas I find all over the web. I have boards on Pinterest ranging from "A Repurposed Life" to "Sunshine with a Slight Chance of Zombies." Hometalk is probably the #1 place I pin from regularly for repurposing ideas, home decor/room make overs, and gardening information.

I hardly ever go on pinterest anymore since joining Hometalk...This is much more "real" and you can actually see projects that people do and get real feedback and real answers on here... Hometalk rocks...much more personal to me....Pinterest is much more "fantasy" like to me....

I have never visited pinterest and probably never willl because with my emails, facebook, hometalk and dear Prudence reading, I dare not get another internet interest!

I am like Amy.....Pinterest is okay, but Hometalk is much better! I sometimes like Hometalk more than Facebook, and I am addicted to facebook.

One thing.. I have to agree that to some degree it is more similar to Pinterest than in months past. Before questions were the majority of the newsfeed.. now everyone is sharing what they have done and there are a lot of bloggers sharing their experiences and stories. Lots of inspiration indeed. As a professional? I kind of miss all the questions and being able to help others :)

BeckySue...I agree the more recent trend has been along the "sharing projects" line rather than the Home improvement questions...but its still all good

Too much like Pinterest for me. I don't visit as often anymore. I enjoyed the more question and answer, problem solve. Now it just seems like advertising for your blog. Much prefer the casual DIYer with the pro advice.

Yes and no. This goes more into details and give others a chance to give their opinions and experiences. I love this as well as Pininterest.

@Laura, or others that would like to read more about the questions than the blog posts? ... At the top right of the feed you will first see "All", you can click on this and select questions only. HomeTalk is still working on correcting some posts because some of the pros/bloggers are putting their pictures as a question, not as a post, but its heading in the right direction - I hope :) I miss the casual homeowner questions too.. problem solving them with everyone is kinda fun and typically I learn something too!
