3po3 on Aug 16, 2012Sounds like you need downsizing advice more than decorating advice. Get rid of anything you haven't used in more than one year.Helpful Reply

Jen on Aug 16, 2012Absolutely. And we have. It is really hard to watch 2/3 of your belongings get sold in a two week period!Helpful Reply

Eclectically Vintage - Kelly on Aug 16, 2012Keep things that serve double duty only - like trunks (coffee table and blanket storage) etc. Also, get rolling baskets or bins for under your bed for storage. Use something like the Ikea expedit bookcase to define and separate spaces. Hang crates on wall - for storage. Remember, it's only temporary and good luck!Helpful Reply

Ellen H on Aug 16, 2012Even though it might sound like a luxury, create a little private oasis that feels like your own. You will probably need your own space sometimes to retreat to - calm, comfortable, with some familiar things that you love having around you.Helpful Reply

Designs by BSB on Aug 17, 2012Very good advice from Eclectically Vintage and Ellen! .. think "less is more" as hard as it might be. You may be surprised what you can live without :) Dont sacrifice your sanity and your health - keep clutter to a minimum so you have space to feel.. breath. If you dont want to or cant do much for art.. think about some pictures or posters that make you feel good.. feel like home. Good luck with your move and this big transition, you can do it!Helpful Reply

Casey Lemons on Jan 08, 2014Don't try to copy the look of your old home, with moving in with your in law, keep what you love and useful but start a new look that is comfortable to you and makes you feel at home, but not something that is permanent, that once you leave you cant take it with you....Helpful Reply

MarcioWilges on Feb 01, 2015It is not going to be easy especially when you have such a limited space area. Nevertheless, nothing is impossible until you stop trying. Moving in with your in-laws or anyone else at all requires patience and support. If either party does not agree with the other, then trouble will brew. The key is to stay low profile and not be too extravagant on the decorating. Else, you might make the area feel and look cluttered which you totally want to avoid. Furthermore, you do not want to offend your in-laws.Helpful Reply
