Help decorating bay window

Marion Nesbitt on Jan 16, 2015What are your privacy concerns, if any? I like mini-slat blinds or similar - to adjust light and provide privacy. Think I'd put the tree somewhere else as looks so stark. Would replace with a large colourful vase with real or artificial greenery and a few other accessories.Helpful Reply

Julie on Jan 16, 2015It completely depends on the style of your home. Is it modern, traditional, rustic. The lighted tree appears to top heavy for the space. I would move it to a different location.Helpful Reply

Tina on Jan 16, 2015I thnk maybe you can use the tree, you just need to soften it. Try putting it in one of the corner, stack maybe some decorative boxes in front of it on one side, and then place some smaller items in front on the other side an arrangement of different height candles or vases. . You will then want to decorate the other side of the window, maybe a couple of throw pillows and a afghan blanket hanging down a little of the window seat. and then maybe in the middle if you still need something some family pictures. Good Luck!Helpful Reply

Fran McCarty on Jan 16, 2015Roman shades for the windows. The tree appears too tall for the space. A nice candelabra about half the size of the tree would look more suited for the space.Helpful Reply

Lola on Jan 17, 2015I have the same window. I put mini blinds up, then café curtains on the bottom then full length drapes on a traverse rod, so I can close and open easily. I have pots of herbs on my shelf.Helpful Reply

D.J. Sherwood on Jan 17, 2015This pic shows a bay window almost as the backdrop with no decoration. I like the idea of the furniture it front. I'd use a smaller table than the one in the picture.Helpful Reply

Maxine on Jan 17, 2015It looks like you have a lovely view you would like to keep. How about using mason jars with candles and hang them at various heights If you don't use the seating area, you could even hang them using the depth of the area in addition to along the edge of the window. Using the little battery lighted tea lights from Joann Fabric or Michael makes it a safe choice . It would have a warmer look with real candles, just keep the fire hazard thought in mind.Helpful Reply
