Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Nov 28, 2012IN the current business climate were in one must set their business apart from the rest. While for years the saying was find out what your competition is doing successfully copy it and make it better used to work, It is now those who set themselves apart from the rest that tend to grab a larger share of the market. My suggestion is not to move. I assume you have been there for a long time? Moving now could loose your current market if you leave the area. And the cost of doing so may not be recouped even with an increase of sales. To set yourself apart from everyone else this is the time of the year to do it. Many people are thinking of simple times when they were younger. In fact even home sales reflect the kids are purchasing homes that remind them of their grandparents homes when they were kids. So its my opinion that you need to use that angle and run with it. Hold classes (for a small fee) and offer them as gift certs for the holiday for those who want to restore their own tables, dressers and the like. Heck there are hundreds of great ideas that other Home Talkers post everyday. These classes can be in how to restore that special treasure to simple woodworking tricks. The next thing is to go to the rest of the stores both in your area, and perhaps the one you were thinking about and offer to allow them to use your furniture in their displays. Allowing you to put a small picture frame offering the product for sale. Align yourself with a product line. There was a home talker here that was impressed with a paint line used to restore furniture. So much so, she became the regions sales representative. Of course you can use the suggestions that Four Seasons suggested. But these are used as part of a whole package to promote your services. Lastly post ideas here on Home Talk, Suggest ideas and show results of the products that you display. Be sure to let people know about this site in your store and ask them to join you here. The results will be that of amazement as you begin to see people that you do business with comment on your ideas and products that you sell.Helpful Reply

Found & Fancied Goods on Nov 30, 2012Thanks for the input. I really do appreciate it. You have some great points, Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com. We have a huge expo center in a nearby city. I think I'm going to try to do a show there once a month, also. Maybe that will help.Helpful Reply
