Susen Gail on Jun 27, 2015Suggestion: Leave the lace tier curtains and take off the valance. Find a stripe and a large check that go with the couch fabric. Make a gathered valance that goes from ceiling to top of window from the check fabric. Make it wide enough to extend two feet on either side of the windows. Hang floor to ceiling stationary curtains out of the stripe on two short rods on either side of the windows. This preserves the light from the windows and will make the ceiling appear higher. (Also will keep you from having to make holes in the vinyl as the rods will hang on the wall.) Make window seat cushion from the check. Then add pillows. If possible, paint or contact paper the wall below the window seat to make it look like a built in and add interest. Add stripe and check throughout the room, as possible. from mats on pictures to pillows. You could even make a large ottoman out of the coffee table and use the check for the top. Perhaps paint a sisal rug for between the couches in an exaggerated stripe? The trick is to use enough of the coordinating fabric to make it look as integral to the room as the fabric in the sofa. Good luck! Have fun! susenHelpful Reply

Fab and Pretty on Jun 27, 2015Well if you take the lace down maybe consider a drapery rod across the bay opening with panels. Be sure to have enough fullness that there is still some gentle folds when closed. maybe an opportunity to use a mild ticking style stripe, introduce toss cushions with the same tones as the panels.Helpful Reply

Kathy Garrett Stafford on Jun 29, 2015I'm looking to create privacy now. The inside of the house is very visible from the street at night when lights are on with my lace curtains. I'm wanting to keep the look of the bay window but make it more private at night. I like the cushion on the window seat, is it ok to lean pillows against the windows if there are curtains on them?Helpful Reply

Funnygirl on Jun 29, 2015Roman shades would be a good way to update.there are tutorials on home time or Pinterest.if that is too difficult, hang rectangles on each window then attach a grosgrain ribbon on either side, one in inside one on outside then either pull or roll the rectangles up when you want then open.will look for pictures and send to you.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Nov 19, 2016Very pretty window. I'd get rid of the lace. The plants should provide enough privacy during the day. I wouldn't put screws into the vinyl. I'd get a rod with filials, attach outside the window frame, and use draperies - maybe with grommets - that can be easily drawn at night.Helpful Reply
