How can I seal a repainted laminate bathroom countertop?

If you’ve already painted it with a laminate painting kit, it doesn’t need sealing.
If you painted it with latex or chalk paint, it may not stay on the top. As in it will come off when cleaning it.
If that’s the case, then you’ll need a marine grade polyurethane and expect to clean it quite delicately.

  Thanks. I haven't started the project yet, doing some preliminary research. There are so many DIY suggestions, but I had a really bad experience with epoxy and don't want a repeat!

  The plastic laminate coating system kits work very well, as long as the directions are followed to a T.

If I use contact paper to cover my bathroom counter and backsplash, would it be best to put a poly coat over it? I wouldn't think midge podege would work.
