Treat you rented house your own house. Just have some beautiful furniture, beautiful bed. Beautiful bedside table with beautiful desk lamp. Have some either nice real flowers or beautiful silk flower. I bought a silk orchid that looks real. You need a nice chair to sit on. TV is you watch TV. Beautiful throw carpet if you don't have carpet. Nice cabinet, chest drawers and nice wall paintings or pictures. Nice drapes if don't have any.

I'm assuming you are not going to paint the walls so create your own colour scheme with your furnishings and accent with accessories that compliment each other. Hang pictures that please you. Decorate so the room is a comfort to you. Take your time. You'll find the right pieces if you're patient. Avoid harsh lighting. ( I have 3 lamps in my bedroom). If you want to know how to hang pictures just let me know. I've come up with a no fail method.

Want a colorful wall, how about a piece of fabric, then design your room around that. Or peel off wallpaper.

You can use cornstarch and water to apply fabric like wallpaper - when you're ready to leave, it peels right off. You could also use 3M Command Strips and hang curtains from the ceiling to create some color since you can't paint.

I bought some inexpensive plastic drawers at Wal Mart a length of chain a couple of eye screws and a wood dowel to increase storage in my closet. I used command hooks to hang pictures and art work. Used colorful carpet tiles I cut into different shapes duck taped them together to make a room size rug that looks like a quilt. Pour a little paint into glass bottles swish it around a bit to cover completely group together as a collection

Your walls can remain neutral while adding color and texture in your furnishings. Also consider peel and stick wall paper!
