How to decorate a bedroom to be shared with a divorced mom and son

Question

My daughter (30) and her son (6) are going to be moving in with me and will have to share a bedroom, she and husband are divorcing.  I am trying to decide how to decorate room for them, I will be getting 2 twin beds...any suggestions?  It is not a huge bedroom, just normal size.

To make this work they need to feel they have their own space. If room is long enough, place beds foot to foot (should have space left),sons close to wall,daughters leave space by wall for night stand. Then put large hooks in ceiling to hang pipe or rod and go to Lowes and get canvas tarp which has grommets and hang between beds at the foot area like a shower curtain would hang. Pull open towards wall during daytime and pull closed for bedtime. Should foot to foot not work spacewise, turn one until you like the look...but still separate with canvas drape. Most of all, enjoy the family togetherness.

You could also use bookcases or RTA wardrobes/pantry cabinets to make a 'wall' between the two sections. They will probably need all the storage space you can come up with! I did that in our basement to make two rooms out of the space. Maybe you could get open wire shelving and put the room divider drape backing it.

I personally would make the space for the little boy a place of his own .Create a privacy bed with a boys theme by hanging up a rod and long curtain of some sort.Then maybe get a carpet to warm the area up and then he has a place to play.

I’m in the same situation except it’s me and my 2 year old son. I have a loft bed. It’s a double bed on top then underneath I have made it his little section with a toy box, book case, pictures, small lounge and my room is small.
