Can you help me paint and decorate this room (pic attached)?

Please keep in mind that I am using my comforter as a focal point. My plan is the wall next to closet door is to shiplap the entire wall. The other 2 walls I was thinking of using the vinyl lattice panel half way up with chair rail. Just not real sure if blending the shiplap with lattice panel will look right together. I want to use white paint at top half but use medium color on bottom half of wall with lattice panel.Shiplap will be light grey color & floor will be a darker grey.question is: will shiplap and lattice look right together and if so what darker color would look good under the lattice with painted border near ceiling.I am definitely doing a shiplap wall but open for ideas for the 2 walls with windows. Don't worry I won't be offended by your honesty.

I will just keep shiplap going and yes darker color would look really good. Make sure you don't make the room busy with so many different things. Make your one wall with shaplaps and use as a focal point. I would keep all three other walls simple and clean with the light paint. It's just my suggestion. I would also add some decor matching with your comforter to boost up the vibes in the room.

Good luck and hope it helps! Let me know if you need any other help, take care,

Combination of shi8plap and lattice would be to busy. Bedr0om should be relaxing. Shiplap the one wall and leave the others plain. Darker color for the floor would work great. Show less wear.

  • Hi Susan,

The lattice seems to be a chair rail height, so visually the combination of shiplap and lattice could look very odd. I do however, love the idea of doing a focal point wall either shiplap or a full wall of lattice and leave the other three plain. That will really make your accent wall pop.

Definitely think you'd regret the shiplap + lattice. If you really love the lattice then just use that. If you're set on the shiplap, put that up and then you can hold a piece of lattice up to see how it works before you commit to it.

I think white shiplap would be a good backdrop for the bed so I would install it on whatever wall the bed will be on. Lattice would be too busy with the comforter and would be more of a garden vibe. Personally I don't think you need the chair rail either. I would just paint the walls one of the soft light blues in the comforter, get white curtains and use yellow just for a couple of accents around the room like art, a painted chest or nightstand, lamps, a throw rug - not all of those just a couple.
