How to DIY a Bedroom window bench?
I need additional storage in a space no more than 18 inches high, under a bedroom window, that includes a place to sit.

One of the easiest ways to build a little bench is to flip a tall, narrow book case on it's side and add a few baskets inside for storage. Have a look at your local thrift stores to see if you can find something that fits -

Closetmaid makes a little 3 cubby bench that is 18.5in high including the cushion. A regular 3 cubby shelf is 12-14 in wide, so if you flipped that on its side and made a cushion for it, that would work.
