When we did one, I attached the legs to a piece of wood the same size as the suitcase and mounted the legs to the wood. Depending on the outside of the suitcase you can screw into the wood from the inside or use construction adhesive on the outside (we did both). Hope that helps.

I would attach the legs to a piece of wood cut to the same size , or just a bit smaller , to your suitcase . Then paint /stain the legs and base and when dry attach the suitcase . You might want to use Velcro strips or command hook hanging strips to attach the suitcase to the base , that way it is removable .
Good luck !

Line inside the suitcase with a piece of cheap wood, buy the screw on legs from Lowes or Home Depot and there you have a suitcase table.
Just like everyone is saying. However, cut a piece of 5/8" plywood, Sanded on one side and you can paint it or whatever. Use the outside of the suitcase as a template but cut it so it fits on the inside. Install the plywood on the inside, then, drill holes the diameter of the screws edge of thread or just a little smaller through the suitcase and plywood at the location of the legs.
To avoid splitting the legs when you're screwing them in place, pre drill holes in the legs also. But these holes must be smaller than the diameter of the shank of the screw, they should be slightly smaller than the shank of the screw, not thread to thread. Then, screw the legs in place, and because you pre drilled the holes the screws will pull the legs in nice and tight. Piece of cake, only after you finish.
If you are going to keep the case closed, you could glue the wood on the bottom of the inside, and then screw your legs through the bottom of the suitcase and into the wood insert, this will make it more secure, or you could put bolts on the screw inserts with washers and make it ever more sturdy and secure as well. I hope this helps
