I would say a door kick plate too, but it may be a little short, but worth a try.

What comes to mind that looks good and is super durable is Diamond sheet metal, it can also be cut to size.
This is really only limited by your imagination. Flashing is great, or just wander through your local home improvement store, see what you find.
