Can I attach a porch roof to my house if the deck below is floating?
Removed old front deck to find sill plate damage. Afraid to reattach so decided to do floating deck, but would like to add a porch roof, she'd roof style.

You are going to repair the damaged sill plate right? if the deck was installed properly the first time you wouldn't have sill plate damage. So it looks like you can go both ways, floating deck or a properly installed Ledger deck.
