How to get the correct jigsaw blade?
I want a jigsaw blade with fine teeth that cuts on the downward stroke. I will be shopping at Home Depot! Unfortunately, at our HD, there aren't employees who are knowledgeable about a lot of things they sell!!! So, what should I be looking for when I go to buy this saw blade?

Hello there,
Jigsaw blades can be fitted in which way around you want I believe!
I believe the blades are labeled well so you can select exactly what you want. Here's an example. If not, I hope you get back to us after you've gone to H-D to buy your blade.

Check on the packaging, there is usually a guide there. It sounds like you will want the one for formica.
H ello 1cs1267, hope this helps you out, Framing blades have 24 teeth and are effective for work — such as rough carpentry — where speed is more important than a clean cut. Plywood blades have 100 or more fine teeth designed to create a finish with minimal splintering. Thin-kerf blades have a narrow profile for faster, easier cutting and less material waste.

Jig saw blade packages should say if they are down stroke. You can look at the teeth and see which way they will cut. Points facing down cut on the down stroke. I use down stroke blades when cutting sink holes in laminate covered counter tops to prevent laminate chip out. The other thing is to look for smarter HD employees.
Can you share what your project is? We might be able to make better suggestions if we knew if you're working on laminate counters or building picture frames, etc. Maybe you posted what it was but I missed it?
I found this one on Home Depot that sounds like what you're looking for: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-4-in-10-TPI-T-Shank-Wood-Down-Cutting-Jig-Saw-Blade-5-Pack-DWAJTIBC450DT5/311802251
It’s pretty easy to get what you want without help. The blades will be imprinted with information about number of teeth per inch (TPI). It will also tell you on the package. As far as a down cut blade, don’t waste time or money trying to find one. In the business we flip the work piece over and make the cut upside down. If your jigsaw has the orbital motion, which most of them do now, make sure to turn it off.
It depends on the project you are doing. If you are cutting wood then you need a blade for wood, laminate is a different blade. You said you are doing DIY work, if we knew more about what you are doing we might be able to give you a better answer. It is over whelming I know when you are trying to do a project and not sure where to start with the tools.
I always look on youtube.com just put in the google search what you want to do and then you will get a lot of info

Hi there, I found this discussion about jigsaw blade types that has a whole bunch of information that will help you choose the right blade for the job - https://woodworking.stackexchange.com/questions/8482/alternative-to-bosch-t-308-bof-for-tight-curve-in-18-mm-mdf
you have not mentioned the kind of jigsaw you are using right now. It would have been much easier if you also mention the name. As far as information is concerned this site will be highly useful for you.
