I'd like to make a side panel for my sunsetter awning.

I would need it to block the evening sun, but not the breeze, release quickly, and dry easily on the awning arm, which is about 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide. I'm starting to think fabric shower curtains. Maybe make tab top straps and attach velcro. Any ideas?

Hi Linda, I'm not sure a shower curtain would let the breeze thru. You could make a screen curtain by sewing screen to a fabric "frame". It would let the breeze thru but still block the sun. You could put weight in the bottom hem to keep it in place. Another idea is to use lattice as a side panel. Again, build a frame and nail the lattice to it. Hope this helps.

  • Use screen fabric from any home improvement store. On the bottom, sew a chanel and insert a pvc pipe to keep it from billowing in the breeze. Your idea for attaching with velcro at the top is a great idea, go with it!

Hi Linda...I found a great privacy fence material on Amazon ...called Aleko that works perfectly and lets air through.
