hum.. maybe attach a curtain type red cloth to the inner top ridge of the box and ask the mailman to drape it over the outside top of the box when he delivers to your box. I'm thinking it would look like a draped scarf.
I'd like to see the mailbox. Apparently it has a feature that indicates when there is mail in the box? I have not seen one like this since usually "flag up" is how you tell the mailman that there is outgoing mail.
I think painting the flag arm a hi-vis reflective color or tape would do the trick being you want to see it from your warm cozy home and ugh on the weather, and yes it’s coming towards buffalo our snow belt area next week ❄️☃️
i too have this problem but I am at least 15-20 car lengths away. I would suggest investing in a sheet of red soft plastic. Cut the plastic to look just like the flag you have on the box. Lift the flag on your mailbox and position the new flag on the old as if you were making the letter F . (The new one will be higher than the old but attached to the old.) Attach with a wire, screw or very strong glue. When the flag goes up it will be much higher than before and you will be able to see it better.
Spray paint rustoleum red
We bought a mailbox that has a yellow arm that raises when the lid is opened. We can see that bright yellow arm from our living room which is about 200 feet away.
Amazon (and probably your local home center) sells a pop-up flag for the top of your mailbox that will signal when your mail has arrived. Might be worth considering.....
Could you buy an arm style piece that can be attached to the same spot, or a thin nyLon stick that the snow plows use to mark the driveway area and brace the 2 by 4 to the post and bore a hole so it could be raised up and down? Just a thought 😊🎄
I found something on Amazon called a "mail chime". Wireless, up to 300 foot range, alerts when the mailbox is opened and stays on until it is reset. Sounds like it would be exactly what you want.
How about buying a $10 pair of binoculars? I bought a pair to help me look at birds in the yard. Hubby used them at a football game. Your distance is about the perfect fit. 😇
I'd learn when the mail usually arrives, then walk to the mailbox about 1/2 hour later. That's what I do. Good exercise and the dog loves the walk.
Thank you
Have fun wherever you can make it!😇
