Tips for adding cinder blocks to enclose an existing cement patio?

    If you mean using cinder blocks as walls to completely enclose the patio into a room. The concrete patio slab will not be able to carry the load. Not made for that. Also building codes and permits have to be met. If you just want to build a knee wall around the perimeter that would be possible as long as it isn't higher than about three feet.

      DH thinks we need to drill holes & add re bar but, is that necessary for 2 high?

    No need for holes or rebar. Just mortar mix to cement the blocks to the patio.
