How do I change my metal kitchen cabinets to add pull out shelves?
My house was built in the 50's and the kitchen has metal cabinets. The bottom shelves under the counter are deep and it is getting to be a hassle to store and pull out pots, pans, bowls, etc., from the lower shelves. I would love to have pull out drawers or shelves to help make it easier to get to the items. I can not afford to spend a lot of money on them. What would be an easier and less expensive route?

Kitchen pullouts come in two styles- (1) drawers with the fronts attached, similar to dresser drawers, and (2) pull out sliders that have been mounted into the existing cabinet shelves. The sliders are available in wood and metal. While each is available in different widths and depths, unfortunately, neither is inexpensive. It is important that any moving components of cabinetry be constructed properly to be able to to support weight while being pushed and pulled from regular use.
Perhaps you could save up to have one bottom bank of your present metal cabinets replaced with a single bank of drawers?
Attaching to existing metal will be the most difficult part. Share an image to get more detailed answer for your kitchen
One thing for a pull out shelf for metal cabinets is something that slides out. Cut a piece of wood that isn't as wide or as long for the cabinet opening. Cut lighter wood to be the sides to it and a lower front piece with a handle or pull of some type. They should be able to be pulled out. If not pulling, put little sliders used for furniture under the sides and in the middle. Hope this idea can work for you!
