If you turn the toaster up side down (unplug it first), there is usually a plate that has a small hinge on it. The bottom opens up and you can clean all the crumbs out. If not, just turn it upside down and shake them all out. Please be sure to unplug first!!
yes I know about the tray the pulls out to empty it and to turn upside down over to shake it. I wish some one will create a toaster with a level to be able to clean it instead of throwing the toaster away
Why do you have to throw it away? I have my parents toaster from 1957 when they were married, still works great today. I also have a small toaster oven, which is easy to clean the inside if need be.

Then look at the bottom of the toaster, there should be a release clip that will open the metal plate on the bottom of the toaster so you can get the rest of the gunk off.

There is usually a door on the bottom that opens to dump the crumbs and clean it.
Most have a trap door on the bottom, and an old toothbrush works great for getting any sticking crumbs.
