I found an amazing product called Krud Kutter - it removes everything from everything. It is available at Home Depot. Steel wool and elbow grease is another suggestion.Helpful Reply -

If the strainer is made of aluminum, vinegar will not work. use ammonia. ( it is an alkaline vs acid situation. With vinegar cleaning protocols, baking soda is the follow up as it neutralizes the pH.Helpful Reply -
