My favorite product is Cerama Bryte, which is sold in supermarkets, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Put some Cerama Bryte on the stains, let it sit for a while, then scrub off with a plastic scrubber sponge. You can use a razor-blade scraper on burned-on food particles, just be really careful to keep the scraper at an angle that won't scratch your stovetop.

I have used an oven cleaner, the spray on odorless kind, and it has taken off old stains, however some marks that look like stains are actually scratches from the bottoms of pans and I have those too. The glass itself is marked and I have yet to find a way if there is one to restore it.

I use a special razor tool designed for glass cooker hobs. It scrapes all the dried on grease. Then use a degreaser to clean.
