How to Season and Maintain a Cast Iron Skillet
Use salt and water to scrub a cast iron skillet. Put it in the oven to dry it completely, then season it with vegetable oil. Put it in the oven again to absorb the oil, wipe lightly with a soft cloth and you're good to go. If it is old and has no rust...it is probably already seasoned pretty well. Just don't be tempted to use a lot of soaps, etc on it.
I agree with Michele Papagallo salt & hot water.
I agree with Michelle.
Salt and hot water - I actually had one that was 20 years old from my grandmother in the same condition, and it took me about 10 minutes. That's it!
