Baking Soda and Vinegar. Baking soda and vinegar are two of the most useful common household products that can be used to clean many things, including hard water stains in the toilet. Pour about a cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and swish it around with a toilet brush. Let it sit for about a minute.

Wet a sponge in bleach and rub it on the water ring, let it set for a few minuts then flush. It worked for me.. :)

    This is a common issue.

Citric acid helps along with elbow grease in the toilet as well as vinegar.

The issue is your hard water and nothing will stop this except prevention like a water softener system.

    Happy scrubbing and good luck.

You can't prevent the ring (unless you get an expensive filtration/water softening system). It's caused by the minerals present in the water. Pour a cupfull of white vinegar into the bowl with few drops of dish soap. Let it sit for an hour (or more) and clean as usual. It works on shower heads, faucet screens and also vases and flower pots. (Sorry to go on & on).
