I use a dishwasher pod...Cascade. Fill the jet tub with hot water and toss in the pod. Run the jets for 10 minutes. Drain the tub and refill with cold water. (Wear rubber gloves to open the drain, since the water will still be very hot!) I also clean the inside of the tub at this time, since the Cascade will get the scum off the tub while doing its magic on the pipes. Fill the tub again, this time with cold water, and run the jets for 5 minutes. Drain, and now you have a nice clean tub with clean jets...fill the tub again with comfortably warm water and enjoy a nice relaxing soak with the jets gently massaging those tired muscles!!
In additional to the brilliant dishwasher pod idea, which I will most def be trying, I have used a magic eraser in the past around the jet openings. I have found it easily removes soap residue.
My "new" house had a jetted tub with jets that seemed like they had never been cleaned (17 years). The usual fixes did not work. There was brown grunge each of the 10 times I tried to get them clean. What finally worked was running a cap full of liquid laundry detergent and hot water for 10 or 15 minutes. Then I cleaned the tub and filled it with hot water again. This time I used a product called "Oh Yuk" I purchased from Amazon and followed it's directions. I cleaned the tub afterward and ran plain hot water through. Finally, a clean tub!
