  • A wax ring? Your local home improvement store will have replacements and they’re easy to change. Remove the toilet and the old ring, set the toilet over the new one, press down, and reattach.

Hi Linda, depending on what is causing the ring, try pouring bleach in it let it sit for about 5 minutes then use a scrub brush to get it off. If you cannot use bleach (septic system), get some emery cloth (safe for porcelain) and drain the bowl by pouring a half bucket of water into it, then use the emery cloth on the ring to clean it off. flush when you finish!

    Hi Linda,

I always use a mix of vinegar and water with a few drops of Dawn mixed in a spray bottle. If the right is from hard water, soak a few sheets of toilet paper with the mixture then stick them onto the ring. You can remove some of the water in the bowl by simply pushing down the drain with your toilet brush. That will make it easier for the vinegar to work. Wishing you the best.

Linda to get a ring out of a toilet first determine what it is. If it’s just staining you can use bleach products, Ajax, straight bleach. If it’s a calcium deposit from your water you’re going to need a pumice stone that you can lightly sand it off.
