How can I clean fuzzballs off of rugs?

I have 2 small shag like rugs in my bathroom small enough to through in the washer at home.Although, I keep them far away from the drier to prevent mating. My problem is Last time I through them in the washer I forgot I had already thrown a few towels in!!! now we have "fuzzballs" in each and every part of these rug and I have no idea how I can get them out without having to sit down for the next 3 years to pluck them out one by one by hand.Anyone know of any secrets they could share with me for fuzzballs? Plz????

Calling them fuzzballs is putting it lightly!!!

I would rewash them making sure to wipe out the machine first. Then run them in the dryer with a dryer sheet to break those little static bonds.

Maybe you can comb a fair amount of the fuzz balls out with a comb. Or maybe you could use a stiff brush brushing the shag in one direction. Have you It doesn't look like it's going to be an easy job.

Yes, I would try to rewash and dry them by themselves. Definitely use some type of fabric softer and possibly dryer sheets.

You could also try wrapping some heavy duty duct tape around your hand sticky side out, then use that to remove some of the balls. I think it would take a lot of work

You can use disposable razor and shave it, Or, as I did, purchase and electric sweater shaver. It works great on everything that gets those little balls.
