How can I get the Rustoleum Paint Smell out of my headboard?

We got this headboard at rehab store. A bargain. Hubs sanded, and painted with rustoleum, a coat of primer, coat of white and then a clear gloss coat. We waited in between sprayings..for a good hard dry. It has been finished about 2 weeks now and still has paint odor. Is this usual? It is quite noticeable when in bed. And is there a toxic element to the odor? 🙁

after two weeks the odor should have disappear. So you used spray paint, primer, paint (is this spray paint) and then gloss ? You may have to sand lightly and repaint. Let it dry for few weeks then use.

You may have to remove and put it in the garage or somewhere where air is circulated to let the smell go away. I think being in a confined room where there is not a lot of fresh air is the problem.

Thanks...it was in the garage for 2 weeks..it seems less noticeable now,but that could be due to lack of smell..recent sinus head, bah humbug.

I am thinking that it is the gloss paint. I have noticed that there is a back stronger smell to gloss paint just a suggestion

For removing the paint smell from the headboard, you can use coffee beans or onion. You need just to place one of them near the headboard overnight. They can absorb the smell of paint and make your headboard smell free.

I would set at least one air cleaner in the bedroom and turn it on and close the door. You could add charcoal also.

No! I'm not new on here, Been answering questions since 2017. I too am getting older and see the same questions turning up month after month. I don't touch the digital stuff myself, and don't even own a Mobile Phone (Ex Telephonist) I wore headphones all day every day and don't want anything clamped to my ears these days - Ha Ha!
