If you end up with a noticeable dip or hole in a cut pile carpet, clip strands the same fibers from a closet or other hidden place and glue into the spot with a good craft glue. Use scissors to trim to the same level. At the very worst, use a razor to cut out a small section of the carpet, including the backing. Again, use a scrap piece of the same carpet (or sacrifice a matching piece from a hidden location) and cut to the exact size of the hole. Using a craft glue or hot glue, affix the patch to the underlayment pad. Make sure the grain matches.
