Have you tried soaking it in vinegar and water than wash.
Hi Lynda,
That is a really bad smell, so I can sympathize.
What I would do is wash with baking soda in hot water ( I would also do a soak here) and use about 1/2 white vinegar in the extra rinse cycle. That should do it. Then air dry outside on a line. After the cycles are complete, leave your washer door open so it ends the smelly cycle.
Don't let his drink milk on the road. Look at other answers.
I use Tide Sport for my sons over the road laundry. Hubby has skin sensitivities, so he used the Tide for sensitive skin and had no problems. It may help to put vinegar in the softener cup. Have hubby make sure that the clothes he puts in his laundry bag are dry, especially things like socks and sweaty clothes. I have been doing trucker laundry since the eighties. The Tide Sport does the trick for me. I hope this helps you, Lynda!
I soak socks in Lysol to make sure that they are germ-free. It doesn't seem to affect the color any. Since smells come from bacteria, if the other ideas don't work you might try it out.
