Did you let the jacket soak in vinegar (as in, overnight)? That gives it time to work its magic! Other ways I've heard about are using steam (as in, a steam cleaner if you have one).
Years ago they sold a packet of granular like stuff for jeans to make them have a stonewash. Not sure of still available ot not.
Did you try softener in the washer?
Keep run it though the machine - scrunch it up a few times
Old fashioned method, but still works: wash wet jacket on an old fashioned wash board or clean rocks. I know it sounds silly, but it does work.
thank you all. I found a recipe for DIY fabric softener on line: hair conditioner and white vinegar. thanks Suebea; I'll give your idea a try. If that doesn't do it, I try the other suggestions. Thank you all.
