How to remove double-sided carpet tape?
Have tape left on my stair treads after removing the braided rugs on each stair.. Have tried Goo-Gone--with no success. Want to replace the carpets but need to get rid of the darn tapes first. As is, looks horrible & not safe. Can you offer a solution?

Try vegetable oil. It has worked better than Goo Gone in my experience.

Tty sanding it off.
Have you tried WD 40, it removes sticky stuff.
Acetone will do it but still requires some scrubbing.
I have used Mineral Spirits low odor and apply with Scotch Brite type scrubbers
the course ones and Elbow Grease, wear rubber gloves and scrub with the grain of the wood. Put Spirits in shallow bowl to control how much you apply with scrubber
you can get M. Spirits at Paint and Hardware stores. Good Luck! Tim R. Yakima,WA.
How about some heat since it's an adhesive and be sure to go slow and easy.
